Part-Time FD - Social Housing
Description

Our client is an established social landlord operating in Cheshire.  They are a market leader in their niche and enjoy private equity backing.

They are looking for an experienced FD to join their team on a part-time basis.  This role is hybrid being 3 days in total per week (2 days remote 1 day onsite).

The role is inside IR35.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be instrumental in their growth plan; therefore, they are looking for someone who goes beyond the expected and has a desire to be part of that growth. The responsibilities of the role will include:

Financial Control

  • Day to day management of the accounting operations
  • Creation, coordination, maintenance and preparation of budgets and detailed complex financial forecast models
  • Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Responsibility for monitoring compliance with the economic components of the Regulatory Standards of the Regulator of Social Housing
  • Maintaining accounting software with accurate records and transactions
  • Ensure strong corporate governance practices, complying with all accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Supporting the month-end, quarterly and year-end financial close
  • Maintaining and reconciling ledgers and bank accounts
  • Tracking payments made / requested on all projects against budget and explanation of any variances.
  • Manage day to day relationships with the company’s lenders and take responsibility for periodic covenant compliance and reporting packs
  • Manage day to day relationship with Homes England and / or external consultants in relation to applications for and compliance with the requirements of grant awards

Financial Reporting

  • Preparation of financial statements, periodic reports, and analysis on a scheduled or unprompted basis
  • Coordinating the year-end audit liaising with external accountants and auditors as required, preparation of audit schedules, data, financial statements and information
  • Provide financial and accounting information as required by the company’s shareholders and external agencies
  • Prepare VAT returns (subject to VAT registration)
  • Supporting advisors to prepare Corporation Tax computations

Team Management

  • To start with the role will be a sole contributor position, but over time will build a best in class finance team
  • Providing necessary training, guidance and leadership as the finance team grows
  • Mentor and provide coaching to the team

Financial Management

  • Analyse and interpret financial information to assist management in running the business
  • Preparation of financial and other key performance indicators for internal and external reporting

 

Treasury Management

  • Responsibility for the management of all funds, including day to day cash management and cash forecasting
  • Key team player in the raising of any debt finance and covenant reporting

Corporate Finance

  • Corporate Finance support including preparation of financial projections, finance proposals for senior debt fundraising, project appraisals, board packs and collation of supporting documentation
  • Modelling for specific investment appraisals
  • Corporate Finance support including preparation of financial projections, finance proposals for senior debt fundraising, project appraisals, board packs and collation of supporting documentation

Financial Systems

  • Affinity for data and systems. Ability to evaluate the finance system and see if it is fit for purpose.
  • Responsible for upgrades and working closely with IT, to ensure better and quicker MI is produced to enable strong business decisions to be made
Qualifications
  • ACA or equivalent qualified accountant preferred
  • Property experience desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals
  • Financial modelling skills highly desirable
  • Auditing experience preferred
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Analytical skills
  • Proven technical accounting skills
