FD Capital and Our Social Conscience

FD Capital and Our Social Conscience

FD Capital and Our Social Conscience

At FD Capital, we believe that we all have a part to play in creating a brighter future. Our values and social conscience feed into everything we do. As a recruitment agency, we’re proud to play a small role in helping financial professionals progress their careers and achieve their goals.

Today we’re sharing our action plan on how FD Capital is working with the wider community. As a London-based agency, we support projects throughout the capital and surrounding region. Every day we’re surrounded by extremes on every side – from the shiny corridors of Fleet Street to London’s homelessness epidemic.

We’re shining a spotlight on three of the organisations that we work with at FD Capital. Each of these holds a special place in our hearts and need your support now more than ever. All of these organisations reflect our social mission – creating a prosperous future where everyone can achieve their potential.

Why We Support Social Charities and Initiatives

We believe companies have a responsibility to follow their social conscience. Every CFO is away of the importance of social responsibility. It’s not all a marketing ploy. We believe that positive action can create a wider social impact that has the potential to change the world for the better.

At FD Capital, we encourage our clients and candidates to consider their organisation’s corporate social responsibility. While your social conscience can help to build your business’ reputation, it’s also a reflection of your company’s value.

Corporate social responsibility typically falls into four categories: ethical workplace practices, charity work, volunteer projects, and environmental initiatives. FD Capital is working to incorporate all of these into our social conscience initiatives.

It’s our goal to raise awareness for our partner organisations and their work through volunteer work and donations. We all have a role to play in creating a positive impact from the success of our organisations, whether by donating our time or money. We’re proud of the work that we do with organisations to help domestic and international communities to create a positive future.

As one of the UK’s fastest-growing recruitment agencies, we’re fortunate to be in a position to support organisations that reflect our corporate values. These values include access to life-long learning, a living wage, and support for refugees, the homeless, and those displaced by current events.

We choose to support initiatives that reflect our mission of creating a high-wage, high-skilled economy where no one gets left behind.

FD Capital is also committed to working with global organisations to help refugees, orphans, and the less fortunate. Our social responsibility partners range from the Living Wage Foundation to the Apage Orphanage in Ukraine.

Today we’re shining a spotlight on three of the organisations that FD Capital work with regularly. We believe that actions speak louder than words. Please consider signing up or donating to the causes listed below.

A Living Wage Foundation Partner

The Living Wage Foundation is an initiative by Citizens UK with an initiative to encourage employers to pay their employees a living wage – whether or not they live in London. FD Capital is joining almost 10,000 other businesses as a Living Wage Employer, including household names like Everton FC and almost half of the FTSE 100.

As part of our partnership with the Living Wage Foundation, FD Capital is committing to pay our employees at least the living wage. It currently sits at £9.90 in the UK and £11.05 in London, where our primary office is based.

We’re not alone in our partnership with the Living Wage Foundation. Other leading financial institutions from across the UK are flagship partners of the Living Wage Foundation, including Aviva and KPMG.

Our goal in joining the Living Wage Foundation is to promote greater equality throughout the industry by leading by example. We encourage our recruitment partners to play their part in promoting a stronger economy by signing up for the Living Wage Foundation.

Part of the Living Wage Foundation’s work is carrying out research on the job market, the state of the economy, and the knock-on effects on workers. The foundation’s recent research for International Women’s Day shows that low-paid work and the cost-of-living crisis are disproportionately affecting women.

Another aspect of the foundation’s work focuses on creating a healthier working environment. Its ‘sustainable work’ initiative is designed to improve the lives of employees with a new Living Hours standard that promotes a safe working environment that prioritises mental health.

As the world of work continues to revolve, organisations must create safe and sustainable working environments for their employees. We’re acutely aware that our CFO recruiters will play a vital role in shaping the culture of the companies they work in. We encourage all our candidates and clients to avail of the research and recommendations made available by the Living Wage Foundation.

We’re committed to doing our part in creating a high-wage and high-skill economy across the UK. The current cost of living crisis makes the Living Wage Foundation’s work more vital than ever before.

You can find out more about the Living Wage Foundation by visiting its official website. We welcome all our corporate partners to commit to paying their workers at least the living wage. You can join the Living Wage Foundation and get your living wage accreditation here.

Tech for Good in London with Beam

While the Living Wage Foundation is an initiative we’ve signed up for, there are also dozens of organisations we work every month on crowdfunding projects. Beam is one of those. This London-based organisation has the goal of building a fairer society, one person at a time. It’s driven by a belief that technology can be used for good and to create positive social impact.

Beam exists to support homeless people and refugees into careers and homes. We’re proud to work with Beam on a monthly basis to help them transform how the world supports those left behind. The cost-of-living crisis and war in Ukraine are constant reminders of the need to support those less fortunate.

The organisation was launched in 2016 when Alex Stephany became friends with a homeless man that he saw outside his local train station. After months of sharing chats and coffees, Alex wanted to find a way of helping him leave homelessness behind for good.

It was then that Ale had a lightbulb moment. Helping homeless people through crowdfunding. Beam connects people through technology to transform how we all can support those left behind. FD Capital is proud to donate to Beam’s crowdfunding initiatives every month.

Beam is a new collaborative model that adds a human face to the donating process. The crowdfunding raised through Bea supports individuals to get a stable career or home. Donors can also choose to send an encouraging message to the individuals spotlighted in the crowdfunding campaigns.

What makes Beam unique is that it’s a free service that charities like St Mungo’s and Shelter can use to refer their beneficiaries for crowdfunding support. Beam also works with local authorities and central government agencies to provide employment and housing services to vulnerable residents.

One of Beam’s most exciting initiatives is its work with dozens of employers to recruit diverse talent and give them a chance to change their lives. Household names like Arriva, Bupa, and Pret are part of Beam’s recruitment programme.

You can join us in supporting Beam by visiting their official website to see the latest crowdfunding initiatives. You can choose to support individuals and hear their stories and ambitions.

FD Capital is committed to making a difference in London. We’re proud to call the capital our home, but we’re surrounded by reminders every day that London is not equal. Beam’s work is playing a vital role in eradicating homelessness and supporting refugees who have come to the UK for a better future.

We encourage other companies to look at how tech can be used for good and to create a positive impact on people and the planet. Browse live campaigns and read how Beam has helped over 1000 people so far to find secure housing or start new careers.

By working with FD Capital, you’re enabling us to help Beam in its monthly fundraising goals to change lives for the better.

You can choose to donate to an individual crowdfunding campaign or donate directly to Beam for your money to be used on the most urgent campaigns. Donate to Beam here on a one-off or monthly basis.

Supporting Agape Orphanage in Ukraine

Every day our TV screens and social media feeds are filled with scenes of the destruction in Ukraine. The UK has been at the forefront of the war, offering support to Ukraine in every way possible. Thousands of homes across the UK have opened their doors to Ukrainian refugees.

While over 100,000 Ukrainians have come to the UK since the start of the conflict, not everyone can make it out safely. The United Nations estimates that there have been more than 14,000 casualties to date in the Russo-Ukrainian War.

This estimate is seen as being widely conservative with actual numbers expected to be considerably higher. We’ve all heard of the war crimes being committed in Ukraine and the untold devastation that is tearing families apart.

At FD Capital, we’re proud to be long-term supporters of Agape Orphanage. We’ve been supporting Agape Orphanage in the East of Ukraine for over 6 years – but our support has never been more important than it is now.

The Agape Mission began in May 2004 when Alexander and Vera Fedorchuk settled in the Kherson region of Ukraine. The mission of Agape has been to bring orphans to Christ through bible lessons and faith teachings. The organisation has actively been working to encourage adoption opportunities and provide humanitarian help.

Agape’s mission extends beyond spreading the faith and working on adoptions. The organisation assists in providing basic supplies and necessities to the less fortunate, including orphans, refugees, and the homeless. All of these scenarios are consequences of the war in Ukraine.

The work of Agape is more vital than ever before. We’re proud of the work we have done with Agape for over 6 years, allowing it to grow across Ukraine. Our support alone is not enough.

We’ve been sending hygiene products, clothes, and school supplies to Agape throughout the time of our partnership. These supplies are essential at a time when basic items are difficult for charities to access.

There are multiple ways that you can support Agape in its work. You can choose to become a partner of Agape Ministers, make a regular or one-time donation, or send a parcel of essential supplies.

Agape has a large support base in the United States and is also a registered charity there, as well as in Europe. You can reach out directly to Agape by getting in touch at agapeukr@mail.ru.

With winter on the horizon, it’s vital that we give Agape the support it needs to continue supporting Ukraine’s orphans as the war continues. Please consider joining us in supporting Agape.
