We are a high-growth SaaS eCommerce business headquartered in Manchester, supporting brands and merchants with technology that improves online customer experience and accelerates revenue. As we continue to scale our product, operations, and market presence, we are seeking an experienced Fractional Finance Director to guide our financial strategy, strengthen our reporting capability, and support our leadership team during a key phase of expansion.

Role Overview

The Fractional Finance Director will act as the senior financial leader for the business, responsible for financial strategy, forecasting, cashflow management, investor readiness, and commercial decision support. You will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to drive operational efficiency, improve profitability, and ensure we are equipped with the financial insight required to support rapid and sustainable growth.

This role is ideal for an experienced FD with a strong background in SaaS metrics, subscription models, and eCommerce-driven revenue who wants to contribute at a strategic level in a flexible, high-impact environment.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Leadership

  • Develop and refine the financial strategy to support our commercial and product roadmap.
  • Advise the CEO and leadership team on financial performance, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and long-range forecasting processes.
  • Support fundraising strategy (equity/debt) and investor communications where required.

Financial Operations & Controls

  • Oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
  • Strengthen internal financial controls, processes, and governance.
  • Partner with external accountants, auditors, and stakeholders.

SaaS & eCommerce Performance Management

  • Build and manage KPI dashboards for SaaS metrics (MRR, churn, CAC, LTV, ARR, cohort analysis, etc.).
  • Evaluate pricing models, sales performance, and revenue retention.
  • Provide commercial insight on customer acquisition, product profitability, and key unit economics.

Cashflow & Risk Management

  • Manage cashflow forecasting, scenario planning, and cost optimisation.
  • Support contract negotiations with vendors, enterprise customers, and partners.
  • Identify financial risks and put in place mitigation strategies.

Business Partnering

  • Work cross-functionally with product, operations, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Provide financial modelling and decision support for strategic initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop internal finance team members (if applicable).
Qualifications

Experience & Skills Required

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Finance Director, Fractional FD, or senior finance leader in a SaaS or high-growth tech/eCommerce business.
  • Strong understanding of subscription economics, SaaS KPIs, and digital revenue models.
  • Highly analytical with excellent financial modelling skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in building financial processes during scaling phases.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

Preferred

  • Experience supporting fundraising or investor management.
  • Background in working with VC/PE-backed companies.
  • Knowledge of SaaS pricing strategies, cohort analysis, and customer lifecycle metrics.
  • Experience implementing or optimising finance systems/automation tools.
