Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Planning

• Develop, refine, and own the company’s short- and long-term financial strategy.

• Build detailed financial models, forecasts, and dashboards to support strategic decision-making.

• Support the founders in shaping monetisation strategies, pricing models, and market-entry plans.

Fundraising & Investor Relations

• Lead preparation for the next funding round (Seed+/Series A), including investment materials, data rooms, and financial projections.

• Advise the founders on funding strategy, valuation expectations, and investor engagement.

• Attend investor meetings and act as a key point of contact for existing and prospective investors.

Financial Operations & Controls

• Set up or optimise financial systems, processes, and controls appropriate for a pre-revenue tech startup.

• Oversee cash management, budgeting, and scenario planning.

• Ensure compliance with statutory accounting, tax, and reporting obligations.

Commercial & Strategic Support

• Provide commercial insight to guide product development, hiring decisions, and operational planning.

• Support the founders on key commercial partnerships, vendor negotiations, and cost optimisation.

• Identify and mitigate financial risks while supporting the company’s growth trajectory.

Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience as CFO or Finance Director within a tech startup, preferably at seed or early growth stage.

• Strong track record in fundraising, financial modelling, and investor communications.

• Comfortable working in pre-revenue environments with limited data.

• Deep understanding of SaaS, marketplace, or emerging tech business models (depending on relevance).

• Hands-on, pragmatic, and able to build finance processes from scratch.

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) preferred but not essential if experience is robust.

• Experience working with venture-backed businesses is a strong advantage.
