About Us

We are a growing food & beverage business based in Richmond. With increasing demand, expanding operations, and evolving cost pressures, we are at a critical stage where strong financial stewardship is required. We are seeking a commercially minded Fractional Finance Director with deep F&B sector experience and a proven track record in cash flow turnaround and financial stabilisation.

Role Overview

The Fractional Finance Director will lead a comprehensive transformation of our cash flow processes, controls, and forecasting. You will ensure the business is on a stable financial footing, improve liquidity, and provide the senior team with clear visibility and control over financial performance. This role is ideal for an experienced FD who thrives in hands-on cash management, operational problem-solving, and supporting SMEs through challenging periods.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Cash Flow Transformation & Liquidity Management

  • Take ownership of short-, medium-, and long-term cash flow forecasting.

  • Implement robust weekly cash flow reporting and scenario planning.

  • Identify cash risks early and lead corrective action with the senior team.

  • Improve working capital management across the business (stock, receivables, payables).

  • Lead initiatives to reduce cash burn and improve operational cash conversion.

  • Review supplier terms, negotiate improved payment schedules, and optimise purchasing cycles.

  • Establish cost control measures and drive disciplined budget adherence.

Financial Management & Process Improvement

  • Strengthen internal financial controls and introduce scalable processes to prevent future cash bottlenecks.

  • Oversee accurate monthly management reporting and ensure timely, reliable data for decision-making.

  • Implement margin analysis, product profitability reviews, and operational cost assessments.

  • Collaborate with operations to reduce waste, improve stock accuracy, and optimise cost of goods sold.

Strategic & Commercial Guidance

  • Advise the CEO/founder on cash-led decisions, operational priorities, and recovery strategies.

  • Assess capital expenditure plans and ensure investments align with cash availability.

  • Support scenario modelling related to new sites, product lines, or restructuring.

  • Provide recommendations for sustainable growth following stabilisation.

Funding & Stakeholder Management

  • Evaluate short-term funding needs and advise on suitable financing options if required.

  • Support relationships with lenders, investors, and key partners, ensuring transparency and confidence.

  • Prepare clear cash and performance updates for the board.

Team Leadership & Culture Building

  • Mentor and support finance staff to drive accuracy, discipline, and accountability.

  • Promote a “cash-first” mindset across the organisation—from purchasing to operations.

Qualifications

Experience & Skills Required

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

  • Experience as an FD or senior finance leader within the F&B/hospitality/consumer goods sector.

  • Demonstrable success in turnaround situations, cash flow transformation, or rescuing challenged SMEs.

  • Excellent command of cash, working capital, and margin drivers in an F&B environment.

  • Hands-on, pragmatic, and comfortable working with imperfect data in a fast-paced SME.

  • Skilled communicator able to influence across all levels, including non-finance teams.

  • Proficiency with Xero or similar cloud-based accounting platforms.
