Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Director to join our team at a leading tourist attraction operator based in Weymouth, Dorset. As the Finance Director, you will play a vital role in the financial management and strategic decision-making of our organization. Responsibilities

 

  1. Financial Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives. Collaborate with the executive team to set financial targets and create plans for sustainable growth.
  2. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analysis. Provide insightful financial analysis to support key business decisions. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic and achievable financial targets. Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  4. Cash Flow Management: Manage the company's cash flow, optimizing working capital and ensuring sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations. Implement effective cash management strategies, including monitoring and forecasting cash flows, managing banking relationships, and overseeing payment processes.
  5. Financial Risk Management: Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Implement internal controls and safeguards to protect company assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws.
  6. Investment Analysis: Evaluate investment opportunities and potential business ventures, providing financial analysis and recommendations to support informed decision-making. Conduct ROI analysis, feasibility studies, and due diligence processes as required.
  7. Financial Systems and Processes: Oversee financial systems, processes, and controls, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Implement best practices in financial management and reporting.
  8. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to enhance the team's financial knowledge and skills.
  9. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including the executive team, department heads, and operational managers, providing financial insights and guidance. Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as banks, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications

 

  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) is highly desirable.
  2. Proven experience as a Finance Director or similar role, preferably in the tourism or hospitality industry.
  3. Strong financial acumen and in-depth knowledge of financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
  4. Demonstrated experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting. Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  5. Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with ticketing or point-of-sale systems used in the tourism industry is advantageous.
  6. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a finance team.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  8. Analytical mindset with a strategic approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  9. Familiarity with the tourism industry and an understanding of relevant industry dynamics and trends.
  10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and meet tight deadlines.
