Role Overview
The Finance Director will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for leading the financial strategy, governance, and performance of the business. This role requires a commercially minded finance leader with strong wholesale and supply chain sector knowledge to drive profitability, working capital efficiency, and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the financial strategy aligned to business objectives.
- Provide insight and challenge to the Board on growth, investment, and risk.
- Drive sustainable profitability through pricing, margin optimisation, and cost management.
- Financial Management
- Oversee all financial operations including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
- Ensure strong cash flow management, working capital control, and funding solutions.
- Lead annual audits and maintain robust internal controls.
- Commercial Partnering
- Partner with operations, procurement, and sales to optimise supply chain efficiency and margins.
- Support negotiations with OEMs, distributors, and key suppliers.
- Deliver financial insight on market trends, currency impacts, and inventory strategies.
- Leadership & People
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to ensure high performance and capability.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven track record as a Finance Director or senior finance leader within wholesale, distribution, or automotive supply chain.
- Strong working capital management and funding expertise.
- Experience in high-volume, low-margin environments with complex supply chains.
- Exceptional commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and ability to influence at Board level.
- Hands-on, pragmatic approach with the ability to balance strategic leadership and operational detail.
