The Opportunity
We are a growing, purpose-led sports business with a loyal customer base and ambitious growth plans. As we continue to scale, we are looking for a Fractional Financial Controller to bring rigour, clarity, and strong financial controls to the business.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, strengthening foundations, and acting as a trusted financial partner to the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reconciliations

Own and oversee all balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

Review and improve existing reconciliation processes (bank, merchant accounts, payroll, deferred income, accruals, etc.)

Ensure the integrity of the general ledger at all times
Month-End & Reporting

Lead the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met

Prepare and review monthly management accounts with clear commentary and insights

Identify risks, issues, and opportunities within the numbers
Cash Flow & Working Capital

Monitor cash flow and forecast short- to medium-term requirements

Support improved visibility over revenue timing, subscriptions/memberships, and deferred income
Systems & Process Improvement

Assess current finance processes and recommend pragmatic improvements

Ensure controls are appropriate for a scaling business without creating unnecessary bureaucracy

Liaise with external accountants, payroll providers, and other advisers as required
Support to Leadership

Act as a sounding board to founders and senior management on financial matters

Support budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc financial analysis
About You

Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience

Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager in a growing SME

Exceptionally strong on reconciliations and balance sheet control

Comfortable working in a hands-on, fractional capacity

Experience in multi-site, subscription, or consumer-facing businesses is a plus

Calm, organised, and detail-oriented, with a pragmatic mindset

Confident working fully remotely and managing your own time
