The opportunity
FD Capital is working with a leading UK investment and wealth platform to appoint an Internal Audit Manager to its established Group Internal Audit function in London.
This is a Deputy SMF5 role, reporting to the Group Head of Internal Audit. You'll deputise for the SMF5 holder in their absence, which makes it a strong next step for an audit professional building towards a Head of Internal Audit appointment at a regulated firm.
Responsibilities
The role
You will lead a team of three auditors and own delivery of a significant part of the risk-based Internal Audit Plan. The role combines senior oversight with hands-on audit work. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, scoping and delivering audits across the Group's platform, investment and operational activities
- Reviewing the team's work papers and findings, and signing off reports to a high standard
- Drafting Audit Committee papers and presenting findings to senior management
- Building trusted relationships with first- and second-line stakeholders, and challenging them where needed
- Tracking management actions through to closure and escalating slippage
- Developing the function's methodology and data analytics capability, and coaching the team on both
- Deputising for the Group Head of Internal Audit and supporting their SMF5 responsibilities
Qualifications
About you
You'll bring the following:
- Internal audit experience in UK financial services, ideally wealth management, investment platforms, asset management or insurance
- A solid working knowledge of the Global Internal Audit Standards and the Internal Audit Code of Practice for financial services
- Understanding of the relevant regulatory landscape, such as CASS, MiFID II, Consumer Duty, operational resilience and the SM&CR
- Experience managing and developing a small audit team
- Data analytics skills, including advanced Excel (experience with audit analytics tools is a plus)
- A professional qualification such as CIA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA
