Senior Finance Recruitment – Head of Finance, FBP, FP&A & Management Accountants
FD Capital is a specialist senior finance recruitment boutique. Alongside our core practice placing Finance Directors and Chief Financial Officers, we recruit across the full breadth of senior finance leadership – from Heads of Finance and Finance Business Partners to FP&A leads and Management Accountants. Every role we fill is delivered by finance professionals who have held these positions themselves.
Whether you need a fractional Head of Finance for a scale-up, an interim Finance Business Partner to cover a critical project, or a permanent FP&A Manager to build out your planning function, our network of pre-vetted candidates means we move fast. Shortlists within 3–7 days. Placements that stick.
This page is your guide to the four senior finance disciplines we recruit into, the engagement types available, typical salaries, and how to get started.
Head of Finance Recruitment
The Head of Finance sits between the Financial Controller and Finance Director in most organisations – a pivotal role that combines operational finance management with strategic input. In SMEs and scale-ups, the Head of Finance often acts as the de facto number-one finance leader, working directly with the CEO and board.
We source Heads of Finance across all engagement types, with particular strength in the technology, SaaS, professional services and private equity-backed sectors. Our Head of Finance Recruitment Service covers the full search-to-placement process, including references, trial periods and onboarding support.
Fractional Head of Finance
A Fractional Head of Finance works across multiple businesses simultaneously, typically committing one to three days per week. This model is ideal for businesses turning over £2m–15m that need senior finance leadership without the cost of a full-time hire. The fractional model brings board-level credibility, investor-ready reporting and strategic financial oversight at a fraction of the cost.
Part-Time Head of Finance
A Part-Time Head of Finance is employed on a reduced-hours contract – usually two to four days per week – with full employment rights and benefits. This suits businesses that need consistent, committed leadership but are not yet at the scale to justify five days per week. Part-time arrangements offer more continuity than fractional and are common in businesses with a small but growing finance team.
Interim Head of Finance
An Interim Head of Finance is deployed on a fixed-term contract, typically three to twelve months, to cover maternity leave, sick leave, a restructure, or a period of accelerated growth. Our interim pool is pre-screened and available to start within days rather than weeks.
Permanent Head of Finance
Our permanent Head of Finance Recruitment is underpinned by retained search, drawing on our active candidate database and network. We also specialise in London Head of Finance Recruitment, covering City, West End, and Greater London briefs.
Within the Head of Finance cluster, we also recruit specialist leadership roles including Head of Risk, Head of Treasury, and Head of Finance Transformation – roles that require a very specific blend of technical depth and change leadership.
Finance Business Partner Recruitment
Finance Business Partners bridge the gap between finance and operations. The best FBPs translate complex financial data into clear commercial insight, partnering with functional heads across sales, marketing, operations and product to drive better decision-making. Demand for skilled FBPs has grown sharply as businesses shift from reporting the past to actively managing the future.
Our Finance Business Partner Recruitment practice covers all levels and engagement types, from Senior Finance Business Partner Recruitment for candidates stepping up to director level, through to FBP Analysts in high-growth teams. We also cover London Finance Business Partner searches across the capital.
Candidates must be qualified accountants – typically ACA, ACCA or CIMA – with demonstrable experience influencing commercial decisions. See the CIMA website and ICAEW for qualification benchmarks.
Fractional Finance Business Partner
Fractional Finance Business Partner Recruitment suits businesses that need commercial finance support embedded within a specific function – for example, a SaaS business that needs an FBP sitting alongside the product team for two days per week. The fractional model keeps costs variable while bringing senior-level commercial rigour.
Part-Time Finance Business Partner
Our Part-Time Finance Business Partner Recruitment service places experienced FBPs on reduced-hours employment contracts, typically three days per week. Common in mid-market businesses running lean finance teams where each hire needs to cover multiple remits.
Interim Finance Business Partner
An Interim Finance Business Partner is brought in to provide immediate capacity – to cover a vacancy, support a strategic project such as a system migration or acquisition, or simply to test the role before committing to a permanent hire. Our interim FBP pool can mobilise within five working days for most London and South East briefs
FP&A Recruitment
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) has become one of the most sought-after finance disciplines in the UK market. As businesses invest in better forecasting, scenario modelling and performance reporting, the FP&A function has moved from a back-office support role to a core strategic capability. We cover the full FP&A hierarchy through our FP&A Recruitment practice.
All FP&A candidates we place are assessed on their technical modelling skills, systems experience (Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Vena and equivalents), and their ability to present insight to non-finance stakeholders. The ACCA and ICAEW Financial Modelling guidance provide useful benchmarks for skills assessment.
Fractional FP&A
A Fractional FP&A Recruitment solution brings senior FP&A capability into businesses that cannot yet justify a full-time function. Particularly popular with PE-backed portfolio companies that need investor-grade reporting but are pre-revenue or early-stage. A fractional FP&A lead can build the model, train the team, and hand over to a permanent hire when the business is ready.
Part-Time FP&A
Our Part-Time FP&A Recruitment service places experienced planning professionals on two-to-four-day employment contracts. Common in businesses where the FP&A remit sits alongside other finance responsibilities and a full-time specialist is premature.
Interim FP&A
An Interim FP&A Recruitment search is appropriate when you need immediate cover for a vacant FP&A seat, or when a specific planning cycle – budgeting, a board pack overhaul, or a fundraise – requires additional senior resource on a fixed-term basis.
FP&A Analyst and Manager
We also place FP&A Analysts and FP&A Managers at the mid-level of the function, and lead Head of FP&A Recruitment searches for businesses building a centre of excellence around planning, budgeting and long-range forecasting.
Management Accountant Recruitment
Management Accountants are the engine room of the finance function – producing the monthly management accounts, variance analysis and commentary that directors and investors rely on. With the rise of real-time reporting tools, the best Management Accountants now combine technical accuracy with analytical curiosity and genuine business interest.
Our Management Accountant Recruitment service covers all engagement types, with candidates drawn from our network of CIMA, ACA and ACCA-qualified professionals. We focus exclusively on senior and qualified Management Accountants – we do not recruit at assistant or part-qualified level.
Fractional Management Accountant
A Fractional Management Accountant provides monthly management accounts, board pack preparation and basic FP&A support on a part-time, multi-client basis. This model suits businesses that are growing but not yet at the scale to employ a full-time Management Accountant. Typical commitment is one to two days per month for routine reporting, scaling up at period-end.
Part-Time Management Accountant
Our Part-Time Management Accountant Recruitment service places qualified Management Accountants on two-to-three-day employment contracts. Suitable for businesses where the MA function is established but not complex enough to occupy a full week.
Interim Management Accountant
An Interim Management Accountant is brought in to maintain reporting continuity during vacancy periods, to support month-end during a systems change, or to clear a backlog ahead of audit. Our interim Management Accountants are available immediately and work to the standard of your existing reporting framework from day one.
