Executive
Position title
Head of Finance: Climate and Carbon (Fully Remote)
Description

Location: Fully remote, with occasional meetings in London (monthly or quarterly)
Salary: £80,000–£90,000
Contract: Full-time, permanent

Role

A fast-growing, venture-backed developer of nature-based carbon projects is looking for a Head of Finance to run its finance function. The business has completed its Series A and is now preparing for a Series B, and it needs someone who can build the financial foundations and the investor story that go with that next stage.

This is a standalone role with real ownership. Day-to-day bookkeeping is handled by an outsourced partner, so your focus is on the financial leadership: reporting, forecasting, controls and fundraising support. You will work closely with the leadership team across a globally distributed, remote-first company, so strong interpersonal skills matter as much as technical ability. This is a mission-led business where your work directly supports meaningful climate outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the finance function and act as the key finance partner to the founders and leadership team.
  • Manage the relationship with the outsourced bookkeeping provider, reviewing output and keeping quality, timeliness and controls high.
  • Own monthly management accounts, board and investor reporting, and the annual budget.
  • Build and maintain financial models and forecasts, including cash flow and scenario planning.
  • Support the Series B process, including investor materials, data room preparation and due diligence.
  • Oversee statutory accounts, audit, tax and compliance across a multi-jurisdiction group.
  • Strengthen financial controls, systems and processes as the business scales.
  • Use modern tools and AI to automate reporting and make the function more efficient.
Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a Head of Finance, Financial Controller or Finance Manager role in a scale-up or venture-backed business.
  • Exposure to fundraising, ideally including preparation for or support through a Series A or B round.
  • Strong communicator who works well with founders, investors and colleagues across time zones.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a remote-first environment, without a large internal team.
  • Interest in using AI and automation to improve finance processes.
  • Genuine commitment to the company’s climate and sustainability mission.
  • Experience in carbon markets, climate or sustainability is helpful but not essential.
Job Benefits
  • Fully remote working, with only occasional meetings in London.
  • A senior, standalone role with real influence on the company’s direction.
  • The chance to help shape the finance function through the Series B and beyond.
  • A global team and a mission-driven culture working on nature-based climate solutions.
  • Competitive salary of £80,000–£90,000.
