FD Capital is delighted to be working with a rapidly growing London-based payments and fintech business that is seeking to appoint an experienced Financial Crime Manager / Deputy MLRO.
Our client operates across payments, e-money and digital assets and is investing significantly in its compliance, governance and risk infrastructure as it continues its growth trajectory. This appointment represents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious financial crime professional to take on a highly visible role with substantial exposure to senior management, regulators and strategic business initiatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with the MLRO and executive leadership team, helping to strengthen the firm's financial crime framework, oversee remediation activities and support regulatory engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the MLRO in the ongoing development and maintenance of the firm's AML and financial crime framework.
- Act as Deputy MLRO and provide support across regulatory and governance activities.
- Lead financial crime risk assessments covering payments, e-money and crypto-related activities.
- Manage and deliver remediation programmes arising from FCA reviews, internal audits and compliance assessments.
- Support engagement with the FCA and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Review and enhance AML, sanctions, transaction monitoring, customer due diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) controls.
- Produce high-quality reporting for senior management, Board and Risk Committees.
- Conduct gap analyses and implement improvements aligned with regulatory expectations and industry best practice.
- Partner with operational, technology and product teams to embed effective financial crime controls across the business.
- Assist with policy development, staff training and compliance monitoring programmes.
Candidate Profile
Our client is particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Significant financial crime compliance experience within payments, e-money, fintech, banking or cryptoasset businesses.
- Previous experience operating as a Deputy MLRO, Financial Crime Lead, Financial Crime Manager or similar senior compliance professional.
- Strong working knowledge of UK AML regulations, Money Laundering Regulations, FCA requirements, sanctions compliance and wider financial crime risk management.
- Proven experience leading or supporting regulatory remediation projects.
- Direct experience of FCA Skilled Person Reviews (s166), either managing, supporting or remediating findings.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to operate effectively within a fast-growing and entrepreneurial environment.
Highly Desirable
- Experience within FCA-regulated Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs), Payment Institutions or cryptoasset firms.
- CAMS, ICA, CISI or similar professional qualifications.
- Experience presenting to Boards, Executive Committees or Risk Committees.
Location & Working Arrangements
The role is based in London with flexible hybrid working arrangements.
