About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to lead the financial strategy, governance, and performance of a $200m subsidiary within a major international oil & gas group. This role will provide steady leadership during a period of transition and transformation, ensuring robust financial management, compliance with local regulations, and alignment with global corporate standards.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on, commercially minded finance leader with deep experience in the oil & gas sector—capable of stabilising operations, improving controls, and partnering closely with senior management to drive performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnering
- Lead the financial strategy for the Saudi Arabian subsidiary in alignment with global corporate objectives.
- Provide high-level support and challenge to the Regional Managing Director and Executive Team.
- Deliver insights on business performance, market trends, and cost optimisation opportunities.
- Contribute to long-term planning, investment analysis, and strategic decision-making.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee accurate and timely delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, local GAAP requirements, and internal corporate reporting standards.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and business performance analysis.
- Oversee cash flow management, treasury operations, and working capital optimisation.
Governance, Controls & Compliance
- Strengthen internal controls, risk management, and audit readiness.
- Ensure full compliance with Saudi tax laws, ZATCA regulations, and international reporting requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors, regulators, banks, and corporate headquarters.
Operational & Commercial Support
- Support commercial teams on contract evaluation, pricing strategies, cost tracking, and project profitability.
- Provide oversight on capex projects, investment cases, and asset management processes.
- Drive process improvements across finance operations, including potential system enhancements or ERP optimisation.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a local finance team to ensure high performance and succession capability.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer and handover processes should the role transition into a permanent position.
Candidate Profile
Experience & Background
- Proven senior finance leadership experience in oil & gas, energy, petrochemicals, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Experience working within international corporations or multinational matrix environments.
- Prior success in interim, transformation, or turnaround leadership roles is advantageous.

Qualifications
