Role
FD Capital is working with a London-headquartered European real estate investment manager to appoint a fractional Financial Controller / Finance Director. The business has an established finance team focused on its funds: fund management, portfolio reporting, and tax and deal-structuring support. It now needs a senior, hands-on finance professional to take full ownership of the corporate (management company) finance function.
You will report directly to the CEO and work two to three days a week. The role is largely remote, with time in the London office as needed. It suits either an experienced Financial Controller or a Finance Director who enjoys hands-on work. The emphasis is on running the corporate finance function accurately and independently rather than on lender or wider stakeholder management. This is a long-term fractional engagement, and days can flex up or down as the business needs.
Own the finance function of the corporate entity as its senior finance lead, reporting to the CEO.
Manage the relationship with the outsourced accountants on payroll, payments, partnership tax returns and quarterly accounts.
Oversee and deliver sales invoicing, the purchase ledger, supplier payments, expenses and payroll payments.
Prepare quarterly management accounts for the corporate entity and present them to the CEO.
Forecast and manage cash for the management company.
Handle corporate tax matters, preparing or reviewing returns with external advisers.
Provide finance support to a European subsidiary.
Oversee insurance, employee benefits and related administration.
Direct virtual-assistant support on routine finance tasks.
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
Substantial Financial Controller or Finance Director experience, ideally in real estate investment management, private equity real estate or a property fund manager.
Working knowledge of partnership/LLP structures, partnership tax returns and corporate tax.
Experience working with outsourced accountants and payroll providers.
Exposure to European subsidiaries and multi-currency reporting is an advantage.
Self-motivated, hands-on and comfortable working independently and remotely.
Established fractional or interim practitioner with capacity for two to three days a week on an ongoing basis.
Long-term fractional engagement with a respected real estate investment manager.
Direct reporting line to the CEO.
Flexible, largely remote working with occasional London office time.
Competitive day rate, paid weekly through FD Capital.
Scope to increase days as the business grows.
